May 14 2015 Discussion (Thurs discussion)

This is the discussion video for Thursday. Please look at the May 12th post for the Tuesday discussion.

Please watch this video, maybe more than once. Remember, it is an experiment and no one is actually getting hurt. We will discuss it in class on Thursday.

1. What would you do if you saw a situation like the one in the video?

2. What would you want someone to do if you were the victim in the video?

3. What would you want people to do if you were the bully (the attacker) in the situation?

4. The video says that if you don't try to help victims, then you are choosing to be the bad guy. Do you agree? Why?

5. How can people know when to help and when to stay away? What other situation would you try to help? When would you stay away? E.g. An adult yelling at a child, a crying person on a park bench, etc.

6. Do you think there should be a law that makes people at least call the police if they see a dangerous situation?

7. Why do you think some people don't help?

8. What is the difference between passive, assertive, and aggressive? Of these three, what kind of help would be best in your opinion?
