-Why people want to have a plastic surgeon operation outside their own countries?
-Do you think that having plastic surgery can change your life? How?
-If you can have a whole body’s plastic surgery for free, but there is no guarantee for safety, would you want to have the plastic surgery operation? Why?
- Is plastic surgery something that should be government controlled? For example, should people have to have a psychological assessment before surgery?
- What other ways do people change their appearance? Why do they do this? What do you do?

- Is plastic surgery just make-up?

Student chosen blog May 13 2015

What was your first thought when you read this article?

Have you tried to do a dangerous act? Would you try any of these?

Do kids just do stupid things sometimes, or are these actions past the level of normal? Why do you think the people did these acts?

Some people died trying to do these things. Do you feel sorry for them?

May 14 2015 Discussion (Thurs discussion)

This is the discussion video for Thursday. Please look at the May 12th post for the Tuesday discussion.

Please watch this video, maybe more than once. Remember, it is an experiment and no one is actually getting hurt. We will discuss it in class on Thursday.
http://www.myenglishclub.com/video/the-bullying-experiment

1. What would you do if you saw a situation like the one in the video?

2. What would you want someone to do if you were the victim in the video?

3. What would you want people to do if you were the bully (the attacker) in the situation?

4. The video says that if you don't try to help victims, then you are choosing to be the bad guy. Do you agree? Why?

5. How can people know when to help and when to stay away? What other situation would you try to help? When would you stay away? E.g. An adult yelling at a child, a crying person on a park bench, etc.

6. Do you think there should be a law that makes people at least call the police if they see a dangerous situation?

7. Why do you think some people don't help?

8. What is the difference between passive, assertive, and aggressive? Of these three, what kind of help would be best in your opinion?

May 5 2015 Blog Discussion

Many parents have habits that they do not want their children to have. For example, many parents really love chocolate, smoke, or drink. Also, many parents dislike things that they want their children to like. For example, parents hate tomatoes, peas, apples, or oatmeal.

Lies my parents told me

My questions are this:

Is it better for parents to be open and honest about their bad habits and dislikes, or should they lie to their children (hide the chocolate, eat the tomatoes when infront of their children, etc).

Do you think that the lies will be discovered at some time and hurt the children (mistrust, etc), or do you think that these lies are harmless?

Did your parents lie to you? How do you know and what did you do when you found out?

Would you lie to your children?

Are these kinds of lies different from others?
